The Problem

Loy Yang Power Station is a brown coal-fired thermal power station located in southeastern Australia, producing roughly 1/3 of Victoria’s electricity requirements. The foundation of the concrete silo was corroding, and limited access and space constraints presented further challenges to a durable repair and long-term protection.

The Solution

CASSETTETM was selected due to its light weight, versatility, and ease of installation, allowing it to be installed in a tightly confined space, and providing significant cost savings over alternatives. Over 10,000m (10km) of CASSETTETM was mounted vertically to the foundation of the silo providing 30+ years of cathodic protection.
