The reinforced concrete pool at The Palace Condominium on Brickell Avenue in Miami suffered from significant corrosion induced damage, resulting in leaks, spalls and delaminations. The level of damage was such that rehabilitation of the pool would have required complete replacement at an estimated $2+ million and a long reconstruction project.
The engineering team determined that local repairs combined with cathodic protection would avoid complete reconstruction and save the pool. NoCo supplied materials for a trial of an impressed current cathodic protection system using our ZEBRA™ anode, to be installed on the under-side of the pool. Once the trial confirmed cathodic protection would protect the structure for long-term, the engineers decided to implement the ZEBRA™ anode CP system on the entire pool. NoCo supplied our patented ZEBRA™ anode technology and saved the condo over $1.5M. The system was successfully installed in January 2018.
