Project Overview
In coastal environments, steel structures face constant attack from salt, humidity, and abrasion. When Chelsea and Corbett Simon (@simonteamflorida) wanted to restore their weathered shipping container known as NDLFC, they needed more than just cosmetic paint - they needed long-term corrosion protection.
To solve the problem AMP-UP Self-Healing Coating System was used, delivering both durability and a high-quality finish.
The Challenge
Shipping containers are typically constructed from Corten steel, which performs well structurally but still degrades when exposed to:
- Coastal salt spray
- High humidity
- Mechanical damage from daily use
- UV exposure
Over time, the NDLFC container had become weathered and worn, affecting both its appearance and long-term durability. Traditional coatings could improve aesthetics, but minor scratches and damage can quickly lead to corrosion in coastal environments.
A more resilient solution was required.
